Final Fantasy XIII

Considering starting a new fanfic.

This time it’s Final Fantasy 13.

Fang Lightning pairing.

I’m going to start experimenting with angst, tension and something more fast paced than Tasogare.

No, I’m not abandoning my Shiznat fic. I’m just inspired to write a FLight one at the moment. Still plodding through Tasogare although priority might change.

It all really depends on inspiration. I’ll get back to work now but not before dropping a preview of my new fic.

Fight or Flight

Disclaimer: Final Fantasy 13 belongs to Square Enix

Chapter 1: Weaknesses

“You’re a coward.”

Lightning turned away, eyes hard. No, she won’t show that whiplash of a comment hurt.

“There you go again.” That low, arrogant voice floated towards her effortlessly. “Always running away, turning away from things you’re too scared to understand.” Twigs snapped and wet soil squelched as the footsteps sauntered closer.

Lightning’s fists clenched yet she stood her ground, refusing to face the taunting eyes of the speaker. Don’t let her get to you. The footsteps stopped and with that, the breath she never realised she was holding escaped, relieved. There was a soft rustling of cloth behind her, most likely Fang crossing her arms or something. Lightning kept her silence. She owned that woman no explanations.

“It’s that damn cowering attitude of yours that landed us here in the first place.” Lightning thought she could feel Fang’s low voice, cool and biting as winter, stirring the loose tendrils of her hair. That infuriating habit: Fang’s lack of respect of personal space. Her teeth grit at the thought.

Without turning around, Lightning asked, “What do you mean?”

A soft chuckle. Lightning could imagine her eyes taunting: You know what I mean. But instead, Fang’s answered flowed out, mockingly, “If you had asked, hadn’t stuck your damn head in the sand… Serah and you wouldn’t have been in this situation. We all wouldn’t have been in this situation.”

“Don’t you dare drag Serah into this!” Lightning whirled around in a flash and almost bang her nose against Fang’s. The two women’s eyes locked. The freezing blue and the piercing green hardened, trying to burn the other down.

Lightning was initially surprised at Fang’s actual proximity but soldier that she was, she utilised it to her advantage. Snapping her arms forward and snatching up the fabric covering Fang’s front, she snarled up at the taller woman. “It wouldn’t have changed anything. She’d still be a l’Cie! NOTHING. Would have changed!”

Unfazed, Fang raised her eyebrows accompanied by a challenging smirk, “Well, I dare you to prove it.” The words flowed out calm and slow in her confident drawl, “I dare you to prove that this attitude of yours won’t leave you any damn regrets.”

“You don’t know anything. Don’t act like you do.”

“I know that you’re a coward. Always had been. You ran away and left her to die.”

A resounding slap filled the cold night air.
